:: The big city ::

We took a long trip to the Big City (aka St. George) to see a dermatologist for Harry's eczema. It's quite a haul and Harry was SUCH a good traveler. After his appointment he got to take a fascinating stroll around WalMart and because he was such a perfect little boy he was rewarded with a new glowie. He LOVES his glow worm, so I thought he'd love a glow seahorse just as much. I was right. Mommies are always right!

:: Peas suck ::

Harry tries peas tonight. He pretty much hates them.

One huge milestone is that Harry stands up while holding on to his piano thingie. It was really awesome, but scary at the same time since I'm NOT READY for him going mobile!!!!!!

Harry loves his Mack monster!

"whatever. I do what I want!"

"Toes! Much better than peas!"

"Hi"

:: Things I never knew... ::

I never knew that at nearly six months old, Harry would seem like such a little "boy" and not a baby. Every day he does something new that truly amazes me. Like smiling and sticking out his tongue when I put the sunglasses on him the other night (see photo from last entry). I bought Harry a new hat in anticipation for our upcoming hikes. I NEVER KNEW he'd be in 12 - 24 month clothes, hats, shoes, socks... at only SIX MONTHS!

I never knew that something as simple as a sun pillar could make even a Monday morning tolerable.... (photo to the left) or a 2 hour drive to the dentist exciting (photo to the right taken on the highway --- Yeh, I had to pull over).

I never knew how squirmy a little half year old would be and his insistence on learning to crawl when that's not supposed to happen yet!

I never knew I'd be reduced to mush with just one little smile from the cutest little boy on earth.

I never knew a 6 month baby could be so entertaining and funny. I really think he knows it too!

I DEFINITELY never knew he'd be so drooly!!

I never knew he'd be holding his own bottle at such a young age. ..

Or trying to sit up without our help!

I never ever ever knew that being a mom would be so emotional and hard. Not hard in the sense that I get no sleep (we were one of the fortunate few who never had this problem!) or that Harry is cranky or difficult (definitely blessed here too). It's difficult really to sum up. I have all these fears, every single day... each day is a complete scary and exciting adventure. Life can go from zero to sixty in a snap of the fingers. Each day is full of new discoveries and challenges.

It definitely makes me appreciate my own mom and, if even possible, love her more :)

:: Yum. Harry eats grub. ::

Harry ate a teence bit of cereal tonight. It was his first go round with solids. Watch the video!

Mommy I liked that!

Big boy discovers he can stick toes in mouth. Almost as good as rice cereal!

I think Harry now knows that a camera means he should act extra cute. He likes to smile and pose.

"Help! I'm NOT a cookie!" (heh thanks Molls)

Mommy reads Harry a new book from Christina.

Okay seriously, how big is this kid??!

:: Me love cookies!!! ::

I thought that since cookie monster is Harry's favorite monster EVER I would go online to find a fluffy puppet (since he like puppets too!) for him to play with. I begin with the LAST photo I shot of their first interaction, just so you know it all ended on a happy note :-)

But it didn't start off that way....

Note to self ::: life size cookie monster puppet is NOT as cool as the TV character to a 5 month old...

But once daddy showed Harry that "cookie" was indeed a cool monster and not a scary blue freak, Harry seemed to dig him.

Now scroll back up and check out the first photo.. all's well that ends well :)

Here are some other recent shots of the lil' guy. Harry and Mack, best buddies.

"Yeh, I'm a heartbreaker, I know..."

:: Hot like wasabi... ::

I learned how to make Sushi tonight thanks to our friend Steven who not only taught me the art of sticking rice to seaweed properly but also didn't get mad when I ruined my first attempt with too much water! Doh! Here's our masterpiece:

My favorites were the tuna rolls and california rolls with flying fish eggs. heh. YUM.

Me and Dr. P rollin' our sushi rolls.

The beautiful view from Steven and Mariko's home.

A common scene at dusk around the sanctuary: Deer and pink sunsets.

This is Jilly. She is going to undergo a very serious surgery tomorrow. Please say a prayer for her. She's the sweetest thing.

:: Harry the firefighter ::

Our friends Denise and Todd got Harry this neat block set when he was born. In Korea, on the baby's 100th day, family and friends gather around and put objects representing different professions on a table and whichever the baby touches is said to be what he is destined to be. This past weekend we let Harry "choose" his destiny... and looks like he is going to be a firefighter :)

Dad and Harry fly the copter around the kitchen. Harry is very impressed!

Can you spot the copter???

And now Harry is regularly holding his bottle (with a wee bit of help).

:: COOKIE PARTY!! ::

Before Christmas Molly came over for our annual cookie party festival. This year we took great pride in creating a plethora of emotionally unstable cookies. Some of my favorites included once again, the chronically depressed bell, the sad emoticon, and the legless moose.

Molly brought her camera and took some cute shots of Harry :) He is looking so grown up don't you think??

Yum, tastes like cookies.

:: Kanab's Dr. McDreamy ::

Dr. Dovey stopped by to check out Moose's wierd ear scab and in the process got to FINALLY meet Harry. Harry thinks Dovey is very cool.... pretty much as cool as pizza, not quite but close.

"Did you bring me pizza?"

Please don't forget to watch DOGTOWN tonight, 9PM ET/PT on the National Geographic Channel. www.bestfriends.org/dogtown

:: Big chair No grub ::

Harry isn't going to be starting solids for another month or so (because of his bad allergies to everything!) but we got a new high chair for him and tonight we thought we'd start getting him used to the idea of sitting with us for dinner.

"what' s happening to my world!!???" (heh --- for aunt Molls)

"This isn't so bad..."

"Tease me why don't you.... this isn't pizza... it's plastic" :(
