Harry's rash got progressively worse over the weekend with areas of oozing and blistering. This has been pretty much the worst week of my life, truly. We have been through so much with Harry and his rashes and I told myself I would not post pictures of him looking SO BAD but I know a lot of my friends who also have kids with skin conditions check out my blog and by shedding some light on this, we can all help each other.

We drove over 200 miles round trip -- in the snow and sleet --- yesterday to a pediatrician in Cedar City. We got some good news. It seems Harry just has a basic viral rash but due to his underlying skin condition, his is especially bad. They did some blood work and the dr. is pretty sure he does NOT have fifth disease (which would not be dangerous to Harry -- but would be to ME and my unborn child). I also got some bloodwork done just to make sure.
Harry's tests confirmed that he IS fighting a virus and this will need to clear on it's own over time. It could take a while. He is taking benedryl daily for the itching and his usual steroid (topical) meds to help the eczema (the really rashy bumpy parts are actually the ECZEMA flared up due to his virus). So, even when the virus is out of his system, he'll have the eczema there but we are trying to nip it all at once.
On a very Positive Note, Harry is NOT acting sick. He is a happy boy and got lots of new toys early because his mama felt so bad for him :( he loves matchbox cars (hint hint grammies) and all types of cars, trucks or trains.
Also, before this incident, he has gone 2 months w/ almost no flareups so I'm trying to stay positive and say as all other bad things in life "THIS TO SHALL PASS."
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and good thoughts. We need them (mama more than Harry... I'm a mess).
Merry Christmas.. hopefully less rashy pics to come.
