So today we had a pretty scary morning... Harry had a severe reaction to a trial run with soy milk. After 5 minutes he welled up with hives and began to vomit all over the place for what seemed like an eternity. It was very terrifying. The worst part is that he has tested negative to soy every time at the allergist, so...? I don't know. In hindsight we should have probably rushed him to the ER, but when you live in a town as ill-equipped as Kanab, I'm not even sure they would have known what to do. He's napping now -- and I'm praying he doesn't have a second wave of symptoms (which occurs 25% of the time a few hours later). My allergist just called us back and they are going to rx an epi-pen (an injectable life saving med) for instances like this. ALLERGIES SUCK. I swear --- knowing my extreme fear of needles and now I have to inject my baby with one if he has another episode like this :(
On a better note --- Harry has been amazing us lately here at home!!! He says about 20 new words EACH DAY (this just started about a week ago). His new words lately are: Flower, Hair, Nose, his new baby brother's name (no, we won't tell you yet!!), "No, No!", "Yes! Yes!", car, ball, apple, teeth. (those were all yesterday's new words) It's so funny and cute :) Also, he knows just about every letter of the alphabet and is getting better at numbers. Here is a new video. He's usually quicker to answer me on his letters but he was so into his book!!!
and here is just a random cute vid of Harry and his new remote control corvette. Can you say "spoiled"?? :)
Harry had a very busy social life this weekend. First we went to a housewarming party on Friday night where he met a bunch of new dogs and played in a big pile of hay! (both with NO HIVES!!! hooray!!)
Today we went to Zoe Beth's birthday party! Zoe turned 4! Happy birthday Princess Zoe :)
Harry managed to find the only truck in a house full of very girly toys. (it was a dog toy! ha!)
Sweet! A dandelion!!
Trying out a big wheel for the first time! fun stuff.
This looks like trouble... Harry and Bodey find an unoccupied sandbox :)
I had to go up to the sanctuary today to train someone to do my job while I'm out on maternity. It was the perfect day, especially being Earth Day and all.. and spending it in the canyon allowed me to really enjoy such a beautiful part of our earth :)
and I got to meet Georgia (finally!) .. one of the pitties rescued from Michael Vick. She is so sweet!
Later this afternoon we had to take Harry to the pediatrician, which involves a 3 hour roundtrip car ride through the mountains. And there was so much snow there!! (and in Kanab it was over 80 degrees.. what a change!!)
Little guy has Roseola. Awww.. he is feeling a little better tho.. and did not cry much at the doctor tonight! hooray!!!
Sleepy on the long drive home :) love my baby boy!
The sun came out on Easter Sunday so we could have a proper egg hung (not like the dismal city park hunt on Saturday!)
HOoray! A new car in my egg!!
Wowww another car!! (a kid with allergies sadly doesn't get a chocolate bunny.. but I think he was just as happy with cars!)
Gandalf wants a jellybean.
So serious!!
Here is Harry at the city park egg hunt. He didn't get ONE EGG :( but a nice mommy of a little girl came over and let Harry have one of her eggs :) so, he came home with one. hOORAY!
Oh boy! What a fun night!!! Harry got TWO big packages from his grandparents in PA and was even more excited to find all kinds of fun toys and goodies inside!!
AWESOME! A new plane!!!
HOLY COW!!! A new plane ANDDDD a new helicopter!!!
Hooray!!
What's this? It's treats from Grammy Williams!!!!
A book!! And cookies!! YUM!!!!!!
The best part of all??? The Easter grass!!
Thank YOU gma, pappappappapapap, gram, and grandpopper!!
Let's see --- so where to begin. First, Harry was back at the allergist this week. He is still allergic to milk and although he appeared to be negative for wheat and soy, on the drive home I gave him some animal crackers and he got hives. So, back to square one. Also, we found out he has an allergy to peanuts. In fact, that was his worst reaction, pretty scary. He's going to be rx'd an epi pen and we have to be very diligent due to the life threatening consequences that sometimes come along w/ peanut allergies.
On a happier note, Harry's new brother is baking nicely. He is now going to be born on June 5 (Steve's bday!) I am having him via csection again.. just less complications and easier for us. He's super active and I think he wants out NOW!! Here is his pic. I think he looks just like Harry!!
Also, our garage transformation is coming along nicely! Love our contractor, Tom. He rocks! Here are some pics.. hope to have the walls up and everything framed by next week and the electrician is coming the following week. Should be ready for grammy Williams early June!
And here's a cute video of my buddy Harry playing with a balloon. I love this kid!
What a way to start the week! Our friends Erik and Lindsey drove all the way to southern Utah from Canada this past weekend. Last night they came over for dinner (Kanab has a new **and quite good*** chinese restaurant! Hooray!)
Harry likes his new friend, Lindsey --- a big step up from his stranger anxiety. yay harry!
