Today, on Julian's FIRST big adventure.. we had one "hell of a time" at Devil's Garden in Escalante Utah off of Hole in the Rock Road. Also on our trip --- Hell's Backbone Road (more on that later--see a theme here??), Calf Creek, and scenic highway 12 -- the prettiest place I've EVER been (and the scariest).

Check out the vistas

En route with the boys (such dandy travelers!!)

first pit stop so JJ could eat (it was about 7 hours roundtrip)

first stop -- Devil's Garden. We stopped here for a picnic and to explore. Great place for a 2 year old!

Harry discovers a cool arch

whooahh rocks! whhoooaaahh sand! weeeee

A bit chilly in the autumn air.

Family portrait next to some balancing rocks

Scenic pull off on highway 12. Let me take a minute to explain this highway --- I wish I could illustrate better -- two lanes..super narrow.. with no guardrails and the steepest drop offs I have ever seen!!!

Jules needed a refuelin' so we stopped at Calf Creek State Park. It was sooooo pretty and falls-ish. Lots of trout and yellow trees and towering mountains all over.

We attempted to drive home via a scenic backway "Hells Backbone Road." Mom (that's me!!) got a little nervous when we saw THIS car falling off the side of the road into a craggy ravine and Harry kept saying CRASH CRASH and that just felt ominous. So I made us turn around. haha :)
